in 2011 when mad mats and tooli went to sonar festival in barcelona they met ludovic llorca aka art of tones outside a club. little did they know back then that two years later on they would release a 12 inch together. the same thing ep opens with the title track and kicks pretty damn sweet with its strong vocal, the guitar, bass and rhodes jamming on top of a tight groove, there is also a dub version included on the b-side. last but not least, the great sgatmi is a jazzy and bumpy house take with lots of samples perfectly balanced. all in all, classic art of tones material and the work of a producer firing on all cylinders.

1nce again is back, this time with the first single in a double package! this is the first of two 12 inches containing one of our absolute favourite tracks from prolific producer ken duke aka dj duke. closer was orginally released back in 1994 on dukes power music records and the amazing klubb kidz mixes quickly found its way into many djs record bags, including label boss mad mats who rates the flava dub as one of his favourite deep house cuts of all time. if u ever heard mats spinning a house set chances are big you have heard this mix blasted loud! first up for remixes duties this time is mark seven, parkway/parkwest label owner, a true djs dj, a passionate music lover and record collector extrodinare. the so close mix of closer is deep house at its finest, an homage to the classic prescription sound keeping it ultimately atmospheric. the stalker mix continues on the same vibe yet develops into something more meaty and pumping during its course. together with the original klubb kidz flava dub and the mark seven mixes this release got everything a true deep house head needs.

freedom school is well known for releasing ig cultures, kaidi tathams and mark de clive lowes conceptual albums. this label connects the big history of black rooted music and future science of beats and groove. and now they have decided to release the new ep by detroit legend rick the godson wilhite! rick is well known as a member of the 3chairs project with theo parrish and moodymann. and he gave big influence for detroit black music scene (house, techno, hip hop) as a owner of legendary record store called vibes rare & new music. and now rick the godson wilhite drops the 3 track ep called freedom school d.j. series vol.1! tribute is the black mid groover. here is fantastic mixture of jazz and disco and soul and african with some sample and loop and deeply beat groove science. techno dust is some like ron hardys spirit way of dance track with mad effect and jackin groove line. kinky is the raw black groove with the texture of jazz and black dub sounds.

the mad aussies at haul music have changed things up a lot since the inception of their digital imprint nearly 5 years ago. in what might be described as a backwards move made by label-men who have simply lost their edge, they began releasing on vinyl only. first with a limited run of ornately illustrated portraits of the label owners, and now they are set to present a vinyl-only release from a cast of relative-unknowns.

pulse locker refers to the analog method of synching analog modular instruments and drum machines, a method of working john tejada & josh humphrey have embraced to generate their trademark sounds and grooves. preferring to work away from the computer as much as possible, john and josh have adapted a more old school approach to their work, syncing analog gear together, not from a computer, but the way it was synced back in the day. the results are a tight, organic analog sound showcased particularly by the 2nd track >bifur gates<. with a tr-808 as master clock, syncing the modular system, the sound takes you back to the mid 90s era of techno. real 808 beats, punchy bass and an ever so shifting classic chord line will leave you lingering for the days of old. on the a side, >pulse locker< with its big and warm groove, gets things moving with a blend of house and techno. rounding out the ep, >unanimous arc< showcases the mad acid sounds possible on the sh-101 while modular chords elevate the track to a manic pace. >pulse locker< marks the duos third collaboration on palette recordings.
